Water for a Healthy Country Flagship
Our research focus
Our research is supporting some of the major water policy and strategies at national and regional scales including the:
- National Water Initiative
- Reef Water Quality Protection Plan
- Living Murray Initiative
- Water for the Future Program
- Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
Our research is delivered through four themes which collectively represent the major water research and management challenges confronting Australia:
Water Resource Assessment OverviewWater Resource Assessment is one of four research themes within the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship. This research aims to help Australia better manage its river basins and groundwater resources.
Ecosystems and Contaminants overviewEcosystems and contaminants is one of four research themes within the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship. This research is helping Australia better manage its valuable water ecosystems.
Urban Water ThemeUrban Water is one of four research themes within the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship. This research aims to enable the mainstream adoption of innovative, integrated and sustainable water management for Australia’s cities.
Integrated Water Resources Management ThemeThe Integrated Water Resources Management Theme is one of four research themes within the Water for a Healthy Country Flagship. This research aims to improve the social, economic and environmental benefits from the management of Australia’s rivers and groundwater systems.
The relationship between climate and the effect of climate change on water resources is integral to our research agenda.
